Exploring the Differences Between Issabel Single Tenant and Issabel MT

Issabel is a unified communications platform offered in two distinct versions to meet different market needs: Issabel Single Tenant and Issabel MT. Each version is designed with specific architecture and focus, tailored to the unique requirements of its users.

Issabel Single Tenant: The Choice for Integrators

The Single Tenant version of Issabel is well-known for its rich functionality and is ideal for integrators who need to tailor the platform to the comprehensive needs of organizations requiring a broad range of functionalities. This version is intended to be highly customizable and capable of handling complex configurations, making it perfect for businesses that need a tailored solution.

Issabel MT: Simplifying Communication for SMEs

On the other hand, Issabel MT is designed for service providers catering to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with more standard and less complex communication needs. Although it includes typical features such as queues, IVR, and pickup groups, Issabel MT focuses on offering a simpler and less feature-heavy solution. Its main advantage is the ability to handle multiple tenants or companies in a single instance, which greatly simplifies administration and reduces infrastructure costs. Instead of deploying multiple virtual machines for different clients, Issabel MT allows managing up to 100 companies or tenants from a single platform.

Technical and Functional Differences

Both versions of Issabel use Asterisk at their core, but there are significant differences in the additional components each incorporates. Issabel Single Tenant includes a PBX module called Issabel PBX, a fork of FreePBX that is adapted and supported by the Issabel development team. This module offers a wide range of functionalities, although in practice, most users only utilize a fraction of these.

Conversely, Issabel MT does not use the PBX module of Issabel Single Tenant. Instead, it includes Kamailio, an essential component for managing call routing that not only facilitates tenant creation but also enhances SIP handling and adds an additional layer of security.

Integrations and Extensibility

A distinctive feature of Issabel MT is its addons module, which allows integration with different CRMs and ERPs. Additionally, Issabel MT offers integration with Microsoft Teams, enabling Teams users to make and receive calls through the Issabel MT platform, thus extending communication capabilities within the enterprise.

Conclusion

Both Issabel Single Tenant and Issabel MT offer robust and flexible solutions for different market segments. While Issabel Single Tenant is ideal for those needing a customized and highly functional solution, Issabel MT provides an efficient and scalable alternative for service providers looking to simplify management and reduce costs. Both versions demonstrate Issabel’s commitment to innovation and support for the diverse business needs in unified communications.
